Most gyms only offer traditional fitness equipment and classes while neglecting the most important factor in practicing a healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition. While you can usually acquire these services and nutritional dietary supplements from your local, big box gym, most don’t offer high quality, locally sourced cold-pressed juices and ready-made meals on site.

We are NOT just exercise. This is not your average gym. 

 

ZUMBA

Zumba involves dance and aerobic movements performed to energetic music. The choreography incorporates Hip-Hop, Soca, Samba, Salsa, Merengue and Mambo. Squats and lunges are also included. In one Zumba class a person can burn between 500-1000 calories depending on the energy the individual puts into the class. The music comes from the following dance styles: Cumbia, Salsa, Merengue, Mambo, Flamenco, Cha-cha, Reggaeton, Soca, Samba, Hip Hop, Axé music and Tango.

vinyasa YOGA

Vinyasa Yoga is a style of yoga that links various poses together in flow-like movements - typically holding a pose with each inhale and each exhale. The breath is used to keep the pace of the transitions and also keep one's awareness on the present moment and self. This emphasis on breath and presence throughout yoga is also referred to as "moving meditation" and offers the same mental and emotional benefits from a sitting meditation but with the added benefits of building physical strength and flexibility.

Jany Slay's classes aim to unwind tight bodies and stressed out minds, uplift heartbeats and moods, and unite breath with movement. She offers modifications for each pose so that every student can take what they need from their practice, whether it be mindful rest, focused challenge, or lighthearted play. Her goal for each class is to create a safe space for students to explore new shapes with their bodies while cultivating more kindness and gratitude for themselves and others.

Cardio Strength Training

Cardio strength training (CST) solves both fat loss and gaining lean muscle mass with simple, fast, and effective workouts to help you "kill two birds with one stone." When you gain muscle, it raises your heart rate, which helps you burn fat faster. CST includes circuits, timed sets, high intensity interval training,  plyometrics, and calisthenics all while incorporating the use of weights,  and sandbags. Circuits include pull-ups, pushups, burpees, squats, etc. CST is done in a group fitness environment with an instructor leading class while correcting form and perfecting technique.

 

Myofascial injury prevention

Myofascial release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure and employing long-stretching strokes of the Myofascial connective tissue to help eliminate pain and reduce post-workout muscle soreness using foam rollers and bands.

MENTAL wellness

Because fitness must also include general wellness we have acquired the services of The Formula friend, Lee Ockenden to provide occasional assistance and counsel to our members for their struggles with anxiety and panic disorder. 

 Lee Ockenden is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Davis, CA, working with couples families, individuals, and adolescents. Lee has been in practice as a psychotherapist for 11 years. Lee is also the Clinical Director for Life Compass Coaching and Counseling in Davis.

PERSONAL TRAINING

Passion, purpose, caring and coaching. These are the key features of a successful personal trainer. An experienced personal trainer also possesses working knowledge of human anatomy, the ability to design and execute individual fitness programs, understanding the needs of their clients, and the ability to give and evaluate assessment screenings initially and progressively.

Caleb Fong encompasses all of these traits and skills and he is now accepting clients for one-on-one training sessions to get you on the road to a healthier, stronger you.
